My Story
“A Journey Through Colour and Light”
In every stroke of paint, there’s a moment of stillness — where nature and spirit meet.

From Tarnów to Toronto: An Artist's Lifelong Pursuit of Beauty
I was born on March 28, 1958, in Tarnów, Poland, and for as long as I can remember, art has been my constant companion. Even as a young boy, I found myself drawn to colours, forms, and the challenge of capturing the world around me on canvas. My early talent led me to participate in national painting competitions, including those organized by the renowned radio broadcaster Szymon Kobyliński. Winning twice and receiving book prizes for my work gave me both confidence and confirmation that this was my calling.
During my military service, I continued to nurture my artistic development, competing in contests with military themes. Those years taught me discipline and precision—qualities that earned me several top awards and helped shape my approach to both art and life.
Until 1988, I worked in Poland’s construction industry as a site manager. The technical discipline required in construction complemented my artistic pursuits in unexpected ways, teaching me about structure, planning, and seeing projects through to completion. But I knew there was more of the world to discover.
In 1988, I made the pivotal decision to emigrate to Greece. Those three formative years expanded my creative vision immeasurably. I produced a series of works that resonated with the local artistic community, and I began to see how different landscapes and cultures could breathe new life into my art.
My journey continued in 1991 when I moved to Canada. In Toronto, I presented an exhibition of my paintings at the Woodbine Racetrack—a fitting venue, as horses had become one of my greatest artistic passions. This exhibition allowed me to share works that blended my European artistic heritage with the fresh inspirations I’d gathered from my life abroad.
Today, I specialize in painting nature and horses, working primarily in pastel and oil. I’m drawn to capturing the dynamic movement, character, and beauty of these subjects—the power and grace of a horse in motion, the subtle interplay of light in a landscape. Each painting is an attempt to convey not just what I see, but what I feel: the emotional resonance of a moment, the universal beauty that connects us all.
My work reflects a lifetime of experiences across three countries and countless canvases. It bridges the technical discipline I learned early in life with the passionate creativity that has always driven me. Through my art, I strive to share my deep sensitivity to the natural world and to honour the enduring power of visual storytelling. Each brushstroke is part of an ongoing conversation between my past and present, between technique and emotion, between the artist I was and the artist I continue to become.
